DISTILLERY & THE METHODS
NED Green Sash Reserve pays tribute to Australia’s iconic figure, Ned Kelly, and his early acts of bravery. With a focus on the maturation process, the result is a truly extraordinary whisky. The distillery sources the finest Victorian grain from a local farmers’ co-op, initiating the whisky’s journey as a triple grain sour mash fermentation.
Corn imparts a mellow texture, while wheat offers soft fruit and orange flavors, and barley contributes to rich nutty and cereal notes. The maturation occurs in Melbourne’s forever changing climate, encouraging a slow, harmonious interaction between the whisky and the American Oak barrels.
SELECTION & TASTING NOTES
NED selects premium aged barrels of reserve NED Whisky for Green Sash Reserve. Meticulously harvesting them over toasted American oak, it infuses the whisky with character and complexity. On the palate, notes of oak, caramel, and vanilla, complemented by hints of almond. The rich flavors of dark chocolate, sweet vanilla, and a pronounced oak punch, accompanied by nuances of almond and macadamia, lead to a lingering finish of vanilla, milk chocolate, orange peel, and oak.
