SONORO PINOT GRIGIO
|THE WINE & THE REGION
Grape Varietal: 100% Pinot Grigio
Tenuta di Angoris, home of Sonoro wines, is the oldest winery in Friuli and was given to Locatello Locatelli, the original owner, by the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire in 1648. The 630 hectares of fields and woods are situated between the Alps, which separate Italy from Austria, and the Adriatic Sea. The vines and Villa Locatelli, the historic villa located on the property, have been expertly tended to for hundreds of years by generations of Locatelli men and women.
The beautiful and expressive characteristics found in Sonoro wines can be credited to the origin within Friuli: Isonzo. The vines enjoy the unique Isonzo microclimate with warm, sunny days and brisk, chilly nights that help maintain balanced acidity and sugar levels in the grapes. The maritime climate allows for just the right amount of rainfall in Isonzo and the stony soils of pebbles and red clay, rich in aluminum and iron oxides, also contribute to the unique zest and flavor of Sonoro.
The prestige and history of Tenuta di Angoris and the exceptional environment in which the grapes are expertly cared for make Sonoro the pride of Friuli.
The freshness of Sonoro Pinot Grigio makes it an incredibly versatile food wine. It pairs exceptionally with stuffed sardines and steamed fish such as sole, which brings out the herbal notes in the wine. This Pinot Grigio also has enough body to stand up to richer dishes such as a creamy smoked salmon pasta, white cheese lasagna or creamy mozzarella.
